NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 spoilers: An emotional journey for Deeks ahead
Yet, there should also be an awareness that this is a show that does have a great tendency to pace things fairly slow, and there may not be much of a hurry on the creative team’s part to get the two walking down the aisle. There are few things known about the two-hour finale, other than that one of the major components to it is going to be a rescue mission in Mexico. Also, this is going to be one of the most dangerous adventures that we see the team involved in for quite some time.
Speaking in a new piece over at TVLine, all Eric Christian Olsen would say on the subject of the future of his character, and a possible wedding, is as follows:
“Is there going to be a lot of stuff to work through before we get there? … There’s some crazy stuff [in the last two episodes] that’s incredibly personal, and the goal with Deeks is always to play the human element of it; not the Bruce Willis version, but a guy who is flawed and is terrified of losing the love of his life. And as we continue to put ourselves in danger, at some point it becomes emotionally exhausting for him, like, ‘What is the plan here?’ So there are some interesting conversations about that – obstacles in an emotional sense, that make for compelling scenes.”
This does sound exciting and personal, even if it is coy when it comes to what’s happening with a wedding. Were we not pretty confident about the prospect of a season 10 then there would be a good chance that we would harbor a little more ambivalence about the finale. As it is, we’re fine that the series is choosing to take its time getting to the wedding so long as the moment is beautifully-crafted and organic to whatever the story is at the time. We just don’t want to see it rushed along or stuck at the final minute or two of an episode.
