Grey’s Anatomy season 14 finale forecast: How to write out Sarah Drew, Jessica Capshaw
The main event at the end of season 14 is pretty clearly the departures of both Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw, who are both saying goodbye after being a part of the series for several years. They’ve spent huge chunks of their careers playing April Kepner and Arizona Robbins; however, they do now have to move forward.
As for the story is going to address that, there was a SERIOUS red herring that was thrown into this past episode when it appeared as though Arizona was going to be struggling with cancer. Now that this is not the case, there are some other ways in which her story on Grey’s Anatomy could wrap up. For example, she could decide to move closer to Callie to make co-parenting Sofia easier. Or, it’s also possible that she just finds a lucrative job somewhere else.
When it comes to April, meanwhile, she may just end up looking for a fresh start after unraveling in such a big way this season. She is doing her best in order to move forward after tackling her crisis of faith, but at the a certain point it wouldn’t be a shock if she were to realize that the best thing for her was to just not be there anymore.
As for some of the other expectations that we have going into the finale…
1. Bring back Nick Mars – It would be nice to get Scott Speedman back for one additional appearance this season after his memorable storyline with Meredith. If nothing else, it would offer some hope that he could be a larger part of the series in the future.
2. Tie up the surgical contest – Rather than continuing this moving into season 15, it seems like a better idea to start that season off with the doctors reaping whatever some of the benefits were to being a part of that.
3. Giving us a sense of what Jo and Alex’s wedding could be like – After all, if the two are now engaged we do think that it’s important that the writers start moving in that direction, even if the wedding itself does not end up happening this season.
4. Do we need a cliffhanger? – We do think that getting that here and there can be rather valuable for the series, but we don’t want don’t want the same type cliffhanger that we’ve already seen with this series in the past. It needs to be something different, interesting, and innovative. Otherwise, we could really do without it.
