Code Black season 3 episode 1 spoilers: Ethan Willis’ new gig and more

Code Black season 3 episode 1 (after a rather-long delay) is finally coming on the air on Wednesday, April 25 – that’s one week after the conclusion of Criminal Minds. Is it going to be worth the wait? We can only hope so, and one of the things that is going to be different almost right away is the environment that some characters are in.

Take, for example, Rob Lowe’s character of Dr. Ethan Willis. You saw him within the walls of Angels Memorial a bit more often during season 2 than you’re going to during season 3; now, he’s getting set to dive a little bit more into his new job out in the field, helping people who need treatment before they even arrive to the hospital. He’s going to have some help, and that dynamic is going to be one of the more interesting things about what you are going to see coming up.

The Code Black season 3 episode 1 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers up some additional insight:

“Third Year” – A drug bust-turned-shootout tests the bravery of the doctors of Angels Memorial as they race to save a girl caught in the crossfire. Also, Willis (Rob Lowe) shifts his focus to field medicine, choosing to work primarily on an ambulance with his new partner, paramedic Rox (Moon Bloodgood). And Leanne (Marcia Gay Harden) begins her journey to adopt Ariel (Emily Alyn Lind), on the third season premiere of CODE BLACK, Wednesday, April 25 (10:00-11:00PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

For most of Code Black season 3, it looks like we’re going to get as much of a balance between professional and personal as humanly possible. Some of these doctors are going to do whatever they can in order to stay afloat in their personal lives, and they could even view their work at Angels Memorial as a bit of an escape with that in mind. Others like Leanne, meanwhile, may be surrounded with stress no matter where she is. Adoption can be one of the most rewarding choices that any one person makes. However, at the same time it can also be one of the most stressful. It’s something that takes a lot of effort, being okay with having your entire life looked at through a microscope by strangers and having to jump through a wide array of hoops. It’s easy to admire the character for wanting to make that happen.

Hopefully, there are plenty of viewers out there excited to have Code Black on the air and are ready to immerse themselves within this new season. We’d love to see a season 4 happen, even though right now it has to be thought about as a relative underdog, all things considered.
