Why a Poldark season 4 premiere date in the summer is so important
It would be wonderful to be able to mark down in the calendar when Aidan Turner, Eleanor Tomlinson, and the remainder of the cast would be coming back to the BBC with new episodes. After all, why wouldn’t we want them back? The third season was a thing of beauty visually, and of course the story remains as compelling as always. Poldark is a tale of power structures, of romance, and of trying to find your way in what is a very difficult world. There are not many other shows quite like it and that’s what, in part, makes it stand out.
This is also why we here at CarterMatt remain very much eager in order to see more of it. When Poldark season 3 premiered in the UK last summer, it felt like it was a perfect fit. Summers are a great time to dive into epics — it’s a chance to enjoy something passionate and comforting at the end of a long day. The show is a reminder that it’s okay to feel sad, but it injects just enough joy and hope into the overall narrative that it never feels too overwhelming.
Beyond the tonality of it all, a Poldark season 4 premiere date in the summer is also useful mostly in how it allows the show to air without too much competition around it. All shows need an opportunity to shine and be found, and while diehard fans would watch no matter when the series was on you also need to reach out to some of the casual crowd.
Much like Call the Midwife has carved out a market for itself in the winter, Poldark can carve out a spot in the summer for at least however long it remains on the air. It’s hopefully going to have at least one more season; this is something that the cast and crew seem to be anticipating.

Poldark season 4 is already being prepared
If for whatever reason the powers that be do decide to delay Poldark season 4 coming on the air, it’s going to be especially rough to bear because filming has been done for such a long time. Production wrapped earlier this year and the team behind the scenes is in perfecting mode. That means recording lines via ADR, editing things together, setting the musical score perfectly, and doing all of the other little things that go into making the show as perfect as possible.
