Supergirl season 3: Should Floriana Lima return for finale?

At the moment, there is not a whole lot of information out there when it comes to the Supergirl season 3 finale. Yet, that isn’t stopping us from raising a few questions here and there including this: Should we get a return for Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer?

When it comes to what CarterMatt does know about the finale right now, it’s that the story of Reign is likely going to end in one of the most calamitous ways imaginable — you’re dealing here with someone who has a known habit for destruction and this is more than likely going to lead to one of the most-epic battles that we have seen through all of Supergirl to date.

Beyond just this though, there are still many other questions we have, and this of course leads us back to Maggie. She was essential to Alex’s story throughout almost all of season 2 and the first handful of season 3 episodes. She’s been the catalyst for so much fantastic storytelling that it makes sense that she would come back and bring Alex’s journey full-circle. It’s a chance for Maggie to see how Alex is doing ever since she left; maybe this also gives the two an opportunity to see the relationship through fresh eyes.

Given that Lima has a new job over on The Punisher it’s a little too early to say whether or not an appearance could even happen; yet, we do welcome it and any opportunity to get them on screen together again. Maggie brings with her (even independently of her relationship) something that is totally different from any other character: Investigative skills. She’s a detective and knows how to follow the trail and stop crimes, sometimes even to the point in which Supergirl wasn’t needed.

Ultimately, no matter what happens in the Supergirl finale we can breathe a little bit easier knowing that the show is coming back for another season.
