This Is Us season 2: Randall – Tess flash-forward theories
For starters, what we know is this: Randall seems to be telling his daughter that it’s “time” that the two parties go and see someone. However, in response to that Tess questions whether or not she is ready to do that. It’s a serious conversation, and it’s not clear based on the backdrop as to where the two parties are.
As for what they are talking about, there are a few things that you can wonder about.
1. Someone is in prison – Whatever is going on here seems to be impacting Tess just as much as it is her father. It’s certainly possible that something happens to Deja, who did destroy Randall’s car at the end of the finale. Meanwhile, it is also very well possible that it could be someone else. If someone Randall and Tess care for end up behind bars, they could feel somewhat responsible and that could be weighing on them.
2. Someone has died – Maybe they are talking in terms of a grave that Tess doesn’t want to visit; or, maybe this is a reference instead to a funeral. We know that This Is Us is a fairly morbid show these days, and with that in mind this is a definite possibility. Could Beth be dead?
3. Someone is hospitalized – While it feels as though this is possible, at the same exact time it almost feels strange that Tess and Randall wouldn’t be able to get it together in order to say a proper goodbye.

4. Something from Tess’ past surfaces – For all that we know about Randall and the Big Three, at the same exact time there is not all that much that we know at the moment about what happened to Tess during the time jump. There could be opportunities to explore even more of this story as we move deeper into season 3.
