Could Constantine appear on Lucifer season 3, or down the road at all?
In a new post on Twitter, Lucifer Joe Henderson confirmed that now that Constantine is a part of the Arrowverse (he has appeared on both Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow), it may not actually be possible to bring the character on board. We do understand why this would be a fun thing to think about given that you’ve got a devil alongside a demon-hunter, but logistically it just seems like a challenge for so many reasons.
While both Lucifer and Constantine are both DC Comics creations, they are a part of shows that air on different networks. If you were to bring Matt Ryan over to Lucifer in the future, you would basically be confirming that Lucifer is in some way a part of the Arrowverse. That’s pretty messy, and it’s something that has not been done with Gotham despite Bruce Wayne’s name even being mentioned on Arrow in the past. From there, you would need to come up with a worthy story and then also make sure that Ryan is available. The actor is set to reprise Constantine for the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow episode entitled “Necromancing the Stone” and in following that up, there are rumors that he may return for one additional time in the finale.
It’s actually the fact that both Lucifer and Legends of Tomorrow air on the same night and at the same time that is the most troublesome. If these two shows are in constant competition, there is basically zero incentive for the folks over at DC and The CW to sign off on having a character jump from one series to the other, potentially causing even more problems in viewership. The fact that these two shows are airing directly against each other is already terrible in its own right.
