Could Grey’s Anatomy actually kill off April Kepner?

Grey's Anatomy season 13 episode 22

Could Grey’s Anatomy actually go so far as to kill off April Kepner on the series? It’s a little bit of a crazy thought, and it is certainly not something that we want to see happen. Yet, it’s also an issue that the ABC series is starting to force us into confronting given a) where the series is at the moment in season 14 and b) the news that Sarah Drew is leaving at the end of the finale.

We’re not sure if there has ever been a time for April where she has drifted so far from who she is — sure, we have seen her emotionally devastated, such as how she was back following the miscarriage. Yet, here she is almost hollow. She doesn’t believe in her religion in the way that she once did, and she doesn’t seem to believe in herself much, either. She is drinking heavily and it seems as though she could go off the ledge at almost any moment.

With that in mind, there is a reason why there are so many people who think that April could die at the end of this season — and there are a number of different ways in which she could go. It’s possible that the character could end up drinking and driving, especially since we just had a scene on this past episode where it seemed as though she was considering this idea.

Also, there’s another fear that she goes so far down the edge that eventually, she elects to take her own life. We don’t want that, either, but in the midst of all of the horrible stuff that has happened to Grey’s Anatomy over time, this is a story note that they haven’t hit on as much as others. this would just be a terrible way for this character to go after everything she’s gone through.

We’ll keep you posted at CarterMatt — but for now, we’re absolutely nervous over whatever April’s future could be.
