Saturday Night Live expectations: Will Sterling K. Brown stage This Is Us parody?
There are so many reasons why you want to root for Brown’s show to be amazing, with many of them starting with the fact that this is not just an actor who got famous overnight. He’s paid his dues on shows like Person of Interest and Army Wives before finally getting his big break on The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story as Christopher Darden. He’s a little like Steve Carell in that he found success in a little bit later in adulthood and with that, he appreciates it more. He already had some stability within his life at the time in which things started to blow up for him.
So what do we want to see with Sterling tonight? A This Is Us parody of some sort is high on the list and it seems likely, given the NBC synergy — given that the show is already done filming for the season we also consider it feasible that Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, or someone else could stop by for a cameo. It would be rather fun to see him share some screen time with Milo Ventimiglia given that there are not all that many opportunities for him to do that on the series itself. A Black Panther spoof also seems possible, but not as likely given that he really didn’t have as much screen time within that movie as we would have liked.
As for other subjects that SNL could discuss, there’s a possibility of all sorts of craziness with the political headlines of the past week … though we personally aren’t projecting anything too major. Just remember that Alec Baldwin was on the series last week and he rarely does two shows in a row.
