Sterling K. Brown recreates SNL opening credits with action figures

SNL opening creditsWe now have a leading candidate for one of the most awesome things on the internet Wednesday — Sterling K. Brown doing the entire SNL opening credits using action figures in place of cast members.

There are so many different reasons why CarterMatt thinks this is wonderful, starting with the fact that apparently, the This Is Us star missed his calling as a professional announcer many years ago. Who knew that he would be anywhere near this outstanding at shouting out names?

Now, the main event — some of the glorious action figures he used for various cast members. For starters, Kyle Mooney looks like he is one of the Cybermen from Doctor Who, Kenan Thompson is the Hulk, Michael Che is Felix the Cat, Cecily Strong is Snow White, Aidy Bryant is a Care Bear, and Leslie Jones is Tinkerbell. There’s also something in here that we like to interpret as a callback to Pete Davidson’s rant about how Staten Island perceives him versus how they perceive Colin Jost — Pete is represented here by some sort of odd little creature while Colin gets to be Prince Charming.

Also, for all of the video game fans out there, who else loved Sterling making Melissa Villasenor into Sora from Kingdom Hearts? This entire promo is wonderful both from seeing Sterling’s love of all things SNL to some of the various pop-culture references that are all put within one single video. Who knew that we would be getting Ready Player One before actually getting to see the movie itself.

James Bay is serving as the musical guest for this episode — for whatever reason, Bay is presented here as Iron Man.

If you missed it…
