TV Madness 2018: The Good Doctor, MacGyver face off in round 1
Above, you can see our full bracket, complete with entries, their seeds, and start/end dates. Once you are within the bracket, the dates listed are when the previous poll ends and the next one begins! We’ve got a great group of shows taking part this year, with some newbies as well as others who have been a part of the tournament every single year. The voting rules are pretty simple — you can vote however often you would like on however many devices that you would like! If you are on mobile and you are having a problem seeing the poll at the bottom of the article for whatever reason, be sure to click to view the non-AMP version of the page at the bottom of the article.
In this article, the focus is being put on two shows in The Good Doctor and MacGyver who have both managed to find a good bit of success for themselves within a reasonably short period of time. One is an adaptation of a Korean series, whereas the other is a reboot of a classic American show. They each have devoted fans and there is a reasonably good chance that both of them are going to remain on television for many years to come still. By the end of the CarterMatt TV Madness tournament, it would not come as a shock if both of them are renewed for additional seasons.
With that, let’s get to breaking down these entries further. Voting for this round remains open until Thursday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time.
The Good Doctor (#3 seed) – The Freddie Highmore drama may be a newcomer to the primetime lineup and the tournament this year, but it’s already made quite an impression. Even though medical dramas may be a fairly-crowded field this series has managed to find its own place and style along the way. There is every reason to think that the journey of Dr. Shaun Murphy will keep changing and evolving within the weeks to come.
MacGyver (#6 seed) – Meanwhile, the CBS drama featuring Lucas Till is serving up what every viewer out there could possibly want from a Friday-night series: Relentless action, great comedy, and also some characters who you want to root for and who manage to continuously surprise. This is the second year in which MacGyver is a part of the TV Madness tournament — it was eliminated as a #6 seed last year in the first round, and this year it has an opportunity to see if the show can turn around its fortune to a certain degree.
