TV Madness 2018: Animal Kingdom, The Last Ship, Blindspot, and more compete in play-in

Welcome to our third annual TV Madness Tournament! This is a fun annual tradition here at CarterMatt where we have some fun, engaging battles between various shows looking to make it all the way to the final round on March 28.

Above, you can see our full bracket, complete with entries, their seeds, and start/end dates. Once you are within the bracket, the dates listed are when the previous poll ends and the next one begins! We’ve got a great group of shows taking part this year, with some newbies as well as others who have been a part of the tournament every single year. The voting rules are pretty simple — you can vote however often you would like on however many devices that you would like! If you are on mobile and you are having a problem seeing the poll at the bottom of the article for whatever reason, be sure to click to view the non-AMP version of the page at the bottom of the article.

Today, we are doing for the second straight year a “play-in” competition between ten shows we wanted to include in the tournament this year because they are all great shows, but we were starting to run out of space. Voting will be open for these shows from now until March 13 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time, when the winner will square off against Bull as the #6 seed. There is a precedent for the play-in winner going fairly far into the tournament; last year’s winner in Black Sails actually lasted several rounds before its elimination.

With that, we wish everyone a happy voting!

The entries

The 100 – It lost last year in the play-in, but some of the buzz surrounding the series this time around (its fifth season has yet to premiere) could prove to be in its favor.

Animal Kingdom – The TNT drama series is a new entry into the tournament this year; is it going to have what it makes to make it through this battle?

Blindspot – The NBC drama series is a solid contender both in terms of viewership and in terms of having a popular ‘ship in Jane and Weller.

Criminal Minds – In terms of ratings this is the most-watched series out of all the contenders. Will that translate into getting a spot in our tournament?

The Flash – It’s dropping out of the main tournament for the first time this year, but it still has a chance to get in via this vote.

The Last Ship – Season 5 of the Eric Dane series could be the last — maybe a TV Madness victory could be a tribute to the cast and crew for all their hard work.

Legends of Tomorrow – Once considered the least-popular of the Arrowverse by critics, it’s become one of the most enjoyable shows on The CW week after week.

The Librarians – The fun, imaginative TNT series is waiting for a renewal — maybe its placement here will be a push in the right direction!

The Magicians – While its audience may not be huge, the series boasts a devoted audience of book fans and viewers discovering the world for the first time.

Scorpion – Finally, the Elyes Gabel – Katharine McPhee series is going to try to gain entry to the tournament itself for the second straight year.
