The Walking Dead season 8 theory: Will Jadis become Alpha?

While there may be a number of subjects worthy of some discussion following Sunday night’s The Walking Dead episode, this one feels like one of the biggest moments of all: Jadis losing a good many of the Scavengers and having to watch them all die in front of her eyes. At the moment, doesn’t it feel like she regrets all of those betrayals against Negan and Rick since Simon showed up at the dump and murdered everyone and then Rick left her there to die? Self-preservation is really only a good strategy for so long.

With many of her former group gone, it’s likely that Jadis is going to change or evolve. With that, we pose the following question: Is she going to become Alpha? The Whisperers could very well become the next villains on the series, and it does feel like this is one of the prevailing theories across the internet. Jadis has lost everything and is enemies with everyone after what happened in this episode. WE suspect that she would like nothing more then to watch the world burn.

What would be so interesting in seeing Jadis become Alpha is that it would allow The Walking Dead do something that they haven’t done a whole lot of before — watching the real journey of someone as they become a savage, brutal villain. When we met The Governor and Negan, they were already terrible. With Jadis, she wasn’t so much purely evil as she just was desperate to hold on to what was hers and wanted to help her own people. That’s why she opted to constantly go in the direction of what she felt was the bigger, better deal.

In the comics, this character does some pretty grisly things and with that, also has a pretty grisly outcome to the story. If this is where we are going with Jadis, then all of a sudden it feels a little bit more as though there is some purpose to the journey that we’ve been on with her. Otherwise, one of the prevailing criticisms that CarterMatt has had is that this character has just sucked time away from other people we are actually invested in.
