Blue Bloods season 8 episode 15 video: The meaning of ‘Legacy’
You can see a little bit of what we were talking about here in the sneak peek. After all, Nicky and Erin have a conversation on the subject of her last name and the obstacles she could face. At the start of this preview Nicky is hiding a secret from her mother, but as the preview goes along it’s clear that Erin already knows what they said secret is. Nicky has decided that she is going to enter the workforce with her name being Nicky Boyle. She is not going to reference the fact that she is a Reagan. This is something that does cause a little bit of concern for Erin, just because that is her last name, and in turn, a very big part of who she is as a person.
With that being said, we understand why Nicky is doing this and we also think that Erin does as well. It’s just going to be something that requires an adjustment period. Yet, by the end of this episode, this may not be the most important thing that most people are discussing when it comes to Nicky at all.
After all, this is going to be an episode that explores one of the most prominent issues plaguing the country today in workplace harassment. It affects a large percentage of Americans in one way or another, where they either know someone who is a harasser or has been harassed. With Nicky, she is going to be the recipient of unwelcome advances by her boss and that is going to put her in a very difficult position. Going back to the original theme of this article and this episode, it is likely that if she went in there with the last name of Reagan she would not be receiving this unwanted attention. Yet, that shouldn’t be the point. Just because she is not believed to be a member of a prominent family doesn’t mean that she should be the object of aggressive or horrendous behavior.
Hopefully, this episode does resolve much of this story, and we’re very curious to see what’s going to happen with Nicky in the workforce once her cretin-of-a-boss is (hopefully) brought to justice.
