The X-Files season 11 episode 8 preview: Something feels ‘Familiar’
“Familiar” is the title for The X-Files season 11 episode 8 and based on some of the information that we’ve got, this episode should be one of the stranger, but more interesting monster-of-the-week cases that we’ve seen. Maybe this is us, in part, trying to expect big things from an episode airing this late in the season. Or, maybe this is a sentiment brought on by the momentum that’s been there throughout the middle part of the season.
Either way, the full The X-Files season 11 episode 8 synopsis below gives you a good sense of just what could be coming up on the series next:
Mulder and Scully investigate the brutal animal attack of a little boy in Connecticut, while suspecting darker forces are at play in the all-new “Familiar” episode of THE X-FILES airing Wednesday, March 7 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), on FOX. (XF-1109)
What sort of “darker forces” could there be? With this series, you cannot rule out anything from the occult to supernatural creatures to of course some sort of human creation or serial killer trying to mask their work. The title alone suggests, potentially, that this is something similar to what Mulder and Scully have seen before … at least potentially. There is another definition of “familiar,” with it being often a spirit who would serve a witch or magician in some capacity. There could be a double-meaning here where the title is in some way a reference to both.
Here is one other fun fact about this episode: While it is airing eighth on Fox, it was actually the ninth episode this season to film. That suggests that this episode and the one that follows could be interchangeable and not altogether relevant to the larger story of the season; another possibility is that for production-related reasons they were just shot this way. That is something that does have a tendency to happen every now and then.
