Lucifer season 3 spoilers: Lauren Lapkus set to play Abel!

Lauren Lapkus

Consider this a Lucifer season 3 surprise that we didn’t see coming — Lauren Lapkus is set to play the character of Abel!

According to TVLine, there are a couple of different twists to this story, starting with the fact that Lapkus is technically playing Bree, a woman who is inhabited with the spirit of Abel. It’s similar in some ways to the Charlotte Richards – Mom story from the second season of the show. Also, there’s another surprise here in that Abel is actually in Hell! As show executive producer Joe Henderson tells TVLine, this is a twist that he did not see coming:

“Yes, Abel’s in Hell. Which Cain wasn’t aware of … feels vindicated about his belief all along that Abel was just as bad as him. The only difference, to Cain, is that he won the fight.”

As for what sort of drama Abel brings to the series, that remains to be seen — we’re really still getting used to the fact that we have an actor in Tom Welling playing Cain who we previously knew only as Marcus Pierce.

This episode of Lucifer featuring Abel is set to air on Monday, March 5 — just one week from tonight. Hopefully, we’re going to have some more news as it becomes available. Who doesn’t want to see Cain arguing with Abel, especially when Abel is inhabiting someone he’s not altogether used to?

Lapkus may be best known as an actor for her work on Crashing and Orange is the New Black. Meanwhile, we know her best for her work as a comedian, appearing on @midnight and some other late-night shows. Her presence here is likely going to ensure that her take on Abel is devilishly fun.
