Call the Midwife season 7 episode 6 video: Female sex education

Call the Midwife season 7 episode 2

Call the Midwife season 7 episode 6 will be airing on BBC One come Sunday night, and at the center of the hour is going to be a story that is all about sex education.

As someone who did not grow up in the sixties, it’s hard to relate to what attitudes towards the subject of sex may have been like at that time. They didn’t have the information that we do today and, beyond that, they also didn’t have the resources. There weren’t altogether that many people really interested in handing over much of the said information. This was a different time, one marked mostly by conservatism and people being very careful in terms of how much that they said on the subject of sex.

Within the scope of the BBC drama series, this is where the women from Nonnatus House effectively drop in. The new video below offers up some very specific insight when it comes to how Valerie and Lucille are going to do their part in order to teach young women about their bodies and sex, an education they are not getting anywhere else. As Jennifer Kirby explains, her character is going to have a certain amount of eagerness when it comes to embracing this subject. She realizes that this education is important and that she’s a valuable resource to these women that she did not have when she was their age. Meanwhile, you can see the more-conservative Lucille struggling with some of her methods a little bit more.

When it comes to mixing education with comedy, this could end up being one of the funnier installments of the entire season. Given that this is Call the Midwife, though, you also should not expect anything to remain light and funny for too long. There are still patients that need to be attended to and other struggles that need to be taken on. This is just a nice little diversion and a chance to see something totally different.
