Call the Midwife season 7 episode 6 preview: Barbara’s goal; Sister Monica Joan’s surgery

Call the Midwife season 7 episode 6

Want to see what lies ahead on Call the Midwife season 7 episode 6? Well, be prepared to see the story continue in some interesting and, of course, emotional directions.

Let’s start here with the fact that this episode will feature perhaps the biggest, strongest storyline for Barbara over the course of this entire season. She is going to be doing just about everything that she can in order to ensure that a woman has a good chance to restart her life again after tragedy. She has seen quite a bit already over the course of her career as a midwife, and it makes sense and is certainly understandable that she would want to do just about everything that she could to put her best foot forward in hopes of helping someone else. One of the other questions that comes along with that, though, is simple: Can you really be a hero to everyone? While we’re pretty confident that the woman Barbara is treating will appreciate the help, there is no guarantee that the fruits of her labor are going to produce the desired result.

Below, the Call the Midwife season 7 episode 6 synopsis offers up a little bit more information in terms of what is coming up next for both her and also for Sister Monica Joan, who is nearing an extremely important moment in her life:

Barbara gets involved with a recently widowed pregnant woman, and Sister Monica Joan has her cataract surgery.

The storyline for Sister Monica Joan is obviously going to be one that has huge implications. This surgery storyline was recently introduced on the series and she absolutely had many concerns when it comes to whether or not she was willing to go through with it. Much like many other characters on the show Monica Joan bears a resistance to change, especially when it comes to modern-day conveniences. Yet, at the same time there can be advantages sometimes to embracing technology and understanding that change can be good. You just don’t want to rely so much on it that you start to lose a little bit of the soul of the past.

Can you believe that we are already in the home stretch of this season? It feels like only yesterday that we were just starting!

Nurse Phyllis Crane in a fire

The closing seconds of the preview had us very nervous for Nurse Crane, given that she may, a la Jack Pearson, be in the midst of a fire. Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee she makes it out alive.
