Agents of SHIELD 100th episode: Hive, Lash returning
According to Entertainment Weekly, you are going to get a chance to see back on the series none other than Hive and Lash, two characters who we honestly didn’t expect to see back on the series after what happened to them.
Yet, there are a couple of different reasons why this is happening. For starters, it’s the 100th episode! Typically in installments like this you want to do pretty much whatever you can in order to pay homage to everything that came before. Brett Dalton was a part of the series for many years and it makes sense to have him back now in some capacity. As for Lash, the character’s history with May is super-significant to better understanding who she is. It would have been the shame if that was not acknowledged in some capacity and we are therefore happy it is.
Would we be a little bit disappointed if the idea was to make these changes permanent? Maybe, but it doesn’t have all that much to do with the strengths or weaknesses of these characters. It has more to do with the notion of moving forward, something that Agents of SHIELD and really every other Marvel television property must do. If you dwell too much on the past you run the risk of characters starting to lose a little bit of their luster. What made Hive and Lash so notable in the first place was that they held so much power for a limited period of time. It’s possible that these appearances are flashbacks, just as much as it is possible that they are dream sequences. No matter the reasoning, the last thing that we would say is that these appearances are meant to last.
