The Fosters season 5: Where the Freeform series goes from here

Is The Fosters season 5 episode 16 new tonight on Freeform? We know that it would be great to continue the story of some of these characters but unfortunately, we are taking the week off.

You are going to see The Fosters return on Tuesday, February 27 with an installment entitled “Giving Up the Ghost.” This will be useful in furthering along some of the major arcs of the season (check out more details on it here), but it’s certainly not going to resolve everything. We can say the same thing about the remainder of season 5 as a whole which is why Freeform has devised such a unique way to say farewell to the show overall. There are three episodes that are going to be airing later this year that serve as a proper farewell to the show itself — those recently wrapped filming and now, on the other side of that there is a spin-off to look forward to featuring Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez.

As for how much closure we’re going to get when it comes to the leftover stories this season, we certainly imagine that there is going to be some. We’re hoping for a chance to see a little more when it comes to Callie’s future in art and also whether or not she is able to enact change when it comes DACA alongside Ximena. Meanwhile, it would be nice to get a few more updates on the subject of Jude and Noah’s relationship, Jesus in school, and if Stef and Lena can get through some of their own recent struggles. In general, the more opportunities that we have to get to see some of our favorite characters overcoming setbacks the happier we’ll be.

As for why we are getting no new episode of The Fosters tonight, the simplest reason is simply due to the fact that the Olympics are on and are starting to enter the home stretch. It’s probably easier to discuss some of these shows more in the aftermath of the games.
