Hawaii Five-0 season 8 midseason spotlight: What’s next for Meaghan Rath as Tani Rey?

What’s coming up for Meaghan Rath as Tani Rey on Hawaii Five-0 season 8? We’re hoping that there are a wide array of interesting things that the CBS series has in store for the character, who has done a great job making a fast impression on the series to date. Anytime you introduce a new character into a show like this into an established cast, there is obviously a chance things can go terribly wrong. We’re lucky that it didn’t here and we’ve already come to root for Tani.

Given that she is still new to the series, it’s also fairly exciting just how much there is still to learn about her that we don’t quite know. This is what we’re going to dive more into in this latest edition of our week-long midseason spotlight series.

1. An update on her brother – After he nearly died earlier this season and was deeply involved in the drug epidemic, this is something that is absolutely worth checking back in on. This storyline informs more of Tani’s family history as well as what she’s fighting for now.

2. More time with Danny – It makes sense to pair the character up with Scott Caan given that they often have different approaches while out in the field. You want to be able to play up some of that conflict.

3. Screen time with a few other regulars – Whether it be with Kamekona or Jerry, it feels like this is the right time to start coming up with some other interesting characters combinations for the series to have some fun with. There’s a lot of creative angles that can be explored.

4. The blossoming of her relationship with Junior – We have to see more of this! We know that the two characters are going undercover together in the first episode back on March 2; we want to see some more stories that continue to build up the dynamic between them.

5. Meeting more characters from the past – It would absolutely be fun to meet up with some people who knew Tani from the police academy or beforehand, just for the sake of contrast between the person she was then and the person that she is today.
