Hawaii Five-0 season 8 midseason spotlight: The future for Danny Williams

Danny

What’s coming up for Danny Williams on Hawaii Five-0 the remainder of this season? We’re hoping for quite a bit! There are so many different directions in which this story could go, whether it be in terms of Danny as a cop, a potential restaurant co-owner, a friend, or a boyfriend. Much of it just comes down to what the writers want to do with his story.

Below as the latest edition of our week-long Hawaii Five-0 season 8 midseason spotlight series, we’re absolutely pleased to share some of our own suggestions.

1. Addressing the shooting earlier this season – This is going to come up before the end of season 8, and it should be a chance to get some great backstory. While we know that there are probably many people out there who want revenge on Danny over something that he’s done as a cop over the years, how many of them are really so motivated that they are willing to go through what this shooter did in quarantine?

2. More Melissa – Just like we said with McGarrett in his spotlight article, we absolutely do want to see a little more of Danny’s personal life. Even if Lili Simmons isn’t available to appear in an episode, at least throw in a couple more mentions!

3. Danny preparing the restaurant – While of course we want to see Danny freaking out alongside Steve as the restaurant prepares to open, we also want to see some of the other little things like menu planning, seating arrangements, and just what the job-interview process is like when Steve and Danny are your boss.

Also, more Uncle Vito. As much Uncle Vito alongside Danny and Steve as possible.

4. Danny working to train Tani – What makes this relationship interesting is that Danny, after years of working alongside Steve, knows what it’s like to be paired up with someone with a little bit of a rebellious streak. There is plenty of wisdom that he should be able to pass along to Tani in the process.

5. A big arc – Whether it be revolving around the shooter or something totally different, establish a 2-3 episode arc so that Scott Caan can really dig into that material and have Danny invested in a case so much more than he’s been with almost any to date.
