The Good Doctor finale table-read happens; look behind the scenes

Good Doctor finaleThe Good Doctor finale production is going to be going strong over the course of the coming days, which is probably both a celebratory and also bittersweet thing for the entirety of the cast and crew. This is the culmination of a lot of hard work, but also a sad thing since it’s a reminder that the finale is airing not too far into the future! This is a show running an 18-episode season, designed mostly not to exhaust Freddie Highmore, who came over to do this show not too long after wrapping up his work on Bates Motel.

We’ve gotten confirmation about the final read-through via social media, and show executive producer Daniel Dae Kim also did an Instagram story taking viewers behind the scenes of the series. (Take a look at that below.) While it was a bummer to see Kim depart Hawaii Five-0 after this past season, one of the benefits that did come out of it was that it’s enabled him to have a presence on-set in a way that he may not have had otherwise.

Remember that new episodes of The Good Doctor are going to resume airing on ABC come Monday, February 26 — in other words, right on the other side of the Olympics hiatus. With one final hiatus mixed in there for the Bachelor finale, there are going to be virtually new episodes each week the rest of the way. You won’t have to wait too long to see how this entire story comes together.

We do think that over the course of this first season Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) has made somewhat of a home at the hospital — yet, he still has a lot of work to do making more work friendships and also establishing more nuance in his relationship. That’s something that he is still struggling with especially when it comes to Dr. Glassman.
