Where is Trixie on Call the Midwife season 7? Helen George’s whereabouts…

Where is Trixie on Call the Midwife season 7? We can understand the episode picking up tonight and there being many out there who are asking said question almost IMMEDIATELY.

So, where is she? It’s a pretty simple question with a fairly simple answer: Trixie is off getting some time away from Nonnatus, presumably to recover from her recent struggles with alcohol abuse. She allowed her addiction to get the best of her and, as a result of that, put herself in a position where she could harm some other people with her habits. She became a liability for the nuns and midwives to have around — they love her, but sometimes if you love someone enough you need to also realize that there are times you have to usher them off so that they can help themselves.

Now, let’s talk about this same question when it comes to Helen George given that were it not for her own absence, Trixie probably would’ve remained a part of the story throughout all of season 7. There’s a reason why you are going to be seeing her gone: She was welcoming a baby of her own! George has a maternity leave during part of this season and was expecting a baby throughout the entirety of the season so far. Producers used a wide array of different techniques to try and conceal the baby bump, whether it be a lot of heavy coats or shooting her with specific angles and with specific props in hand. There was little reason story-wise to make Trixie pregnant at the moment, so the writers didn’t want to include it into the story. Yet, there was absolutely a thrill among the cast and crew for George and her co-star Jack Ashton, who ironically is going to be back on the series after his own absence earlier this season.

Will Helen George return this season? Per what we wrote about at CarterMatt yesterday, signs absolutely seem to suggest so. She’s going to be missed during her time away, but one of the things that we’ve really come to know well about Call the Midwife over the years is that it’s so much more than just a single cast member. It’s an entire family of people all coming together and supporting one another through thick and thin.
