Homeland season 7 episode 2: On-set surprises; more via Claire Danes
The new video below courtesy of the network is all sorts of amusing, and beyond just that it offers up an opportunity to see something that we really haven’t had all that much of a chance to see to date: Some more behind-the-scenes insight from someone who plays a very serious character on the show itself. Here, Danes discusses at length her knitting habits, while also discussing her childhood, some of her hobbies, and also a song that she wrote a long time ago that remains the only song that she’s ever done.
Obviously, there’s not a whole lot of scoop in here but that’s where we come in! The death of McClendon on the premiere is only going to be the tip of the iceberg this season. It sets in motion a number of other crazy and super-intense events that are hopefully going to propel the story of Carrie and many other characters forward. She is going to do everything that she can in order to undercover the truth behind what actually happened to him, including tracking down some especially-suspicious characters. Beyond that, we’re also going to be seeing O’Keefe continue to spawn his own version of a political revolution. Whether or not he’s willing to dive in head-first to getting his hands dirty this season remains to be seen, but he’s using his violent rhetoric in order to spawn paranoia and cause a wide array of trouble.
Homeland has always excelled in being a dark reflection of society and we imagine that this will continue this season. One of the biggest questions to wonder is simply this: Can anyone within this show find compromise? We live now so much in a culture where everyone deems it necessary that they are right in the midst of conflict. Yet, this world really shouldn’t be so much about who is right as it is how to actually listen to people who are and create a better future. There’s no common ground, only chaos.
