Homeland season 7 episode 2 preview: ‘Rebel Rebel’

Homeland season 7 episode 2

What’s coming up on Homeland season 7 episode 2? We should start off here by proclaiming that to the surprise of no one, Showtime isn’t altogether interested in handing out too many details about what is coming up right now.

Here’s what we know right now prior to the premiere episode airing: The title here is “Rebel Rebel,” which David Bowie fans know as a reference to one of his greatest songs. (RIP David Bowie — you’re still missed.) We do certainly think that there are many different ways that you could read this title in the context of the show. After all, Carrie’s a rebel in some ways against the currently-oppressive regime led by President Keane. Meanwhile, O’Keefe is in his own way a rebel against mainstream media. We hate to use that phrase given that it is so used by social-media political operatives these days, but we feel like we can use that term on O’Keefe without really speaking too much on the subject of what he actually did.

Below, you can see via the Homeland season 7 episode 2 synopsis some more information regarding what’s coming up:

Carrie makes a discovery. Wellington protects Keane. O’Keefe continues to broadcast.

Like we said, Showtime isn’t giving you too much — but we do think one interesting thing to think about here is how long O’Keefe will bend before he breaks. We feel like we’ve got a pretty good sense at this point of Carrie’s resolve, but for most other central characters these days beyond her and Saul there are still question marks. (It’s amazing to think how much the Homeland cast has changed over the years.)

The preview that we saw after tonight’s episode signaled a couple of different things, whether it be Saul’s promotion to National Security Adviser and, of course, the aftermath to the death of Jamie McClendon in the opening minutes of the premiere.
