Midnight, Texas season 2 renewal official at NBC
Now … there are some caveats. For starters, only part of the season 1 cast is set to return. François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel and Jason Lewis are all going to be back. Meanwhile, Yul Vazquez and Sarah Ramos are not returning as regulars. There will also be new leadership at the top with Nicole Snyder and Eric Charmelo now leading the show together.
In a statement, source author Charlaine Harris celebrated the renewal with the following:
“I am stoked at the prospect of a second season of Midnight, Texas. I can’t wait to revisit my favorite town to discover what its inhabitants have been up to the past few months. Now the viewers, who’ve been asking me questions daily, will have their reward.”
Hopefully, this renewal news means that there is still time to get the series back on the air this summer — it wasn’t exactly a runaway hit this past year, but it did well enough that we would have been shocked to see it not be brought back. As for whether or not it gets a season 3, that’s going to depend heavily on if the numbers stay pretty steady or even improve off of season 1. We’ll be honest: Going into the premiere we weren’t that optimistic, mostly since the promotion around its premiere date wasn’t exactly on another level. We remember seeing some promo for it at some comic-book conventions in the spring but not too much outside of that.
Hopefully, NBC will confirm their Midnight, Texas season 2 plans a little bit later this year, well before they get around to discussing what they are doing for the fall at upfronts.
