Elementary season 6: When should CBS release first promo?

Is it time for CBS to release their first Elementary season 6 promo? It’s starting to feel that way!

Let’s start here by resetting what some of the facts are. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the Jonny Lee Miller series is going to start airing its sixth season on Monday, April 30 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. It is taking the place of Scorpion on the schedule, and on paper we like the idea of the show airing in this time. It’s away from Sunday nights and that awful timeslot it was in. Also, there’s not going to be enormous competition when it gets around to the summer and there could be a great opportunity that comes with it getting a chance to have a timeslot on its own. Will this be a lift to the ratings, and help the series get another season on the air?

One of the things that we have to be excited about whenever we do get a promo is this: If CBS wanted to, there will certainly be enough footage for them to cultivate some sort of longer trailer with highlights from a wide array of episodes as opposed to just one. After all, filming has been underway for many months at this point! We’re not altogether confident that they will do this (CBS isn’t really in the trailer business — they tend to prefer short promos), but it is a nice thing to think about.

As for when we honestly expect a first promo from the network, think early April. There’s probably no real incentive for CBS to get something together before then and we don’t think that they are going to blow off the doors doing some sort of lengthy promotional tour for Elementary. 

As we do get near the finale, the one thing we do know we want is simply this: An opportunity to see more Moriarty. Either find a way to bring Natalie Dormer back or recast the character and just claim that Moriarty underwent extensive plastic surgery. We understand that Dormer is fantastic but Elementary is a show about Sherlock Holmes! Given that we don’t know if the series has a future or not beyond this season, we don’t want to see Sherlock without his greatest adversary.
