Bull season 2: What’s next for Cable?
In the midst of everything that transpired tonight on the CBS series, we do think that there is still hope for the character’s future. For starters, we know that Bull didn’t really want to fire her — she just broke the law, and within that moment he didn’t really foresee another way in which to move forward. If he saw an easier option, we do think that he would have taken it in that moment.
Yet, we also don’t exactly think that the end of the road is necessarily here for this character, either. We know that she cares about this job and is good at it. With that, we’re hoping that calmer heads from all sides will prevail.
There are a couple of things to think about here in terms of the way in which she was fired. For starters, Bull was still emotional in his own way after what we just saw transpired. It makes some sense that he would act based on his frustrations over her breaking the law and damaging his company. He didn’t really want to give her a chance to see if she showed remorse and we get it — she’s the one who broke the rules.
The onus is really going to fall more on Cable now. If she can find a way to prove to Bull that she has changed, and that she can be useful in future cases, we’re not ruling out a return. We think that her exit was so dramatic that we can’t envision this being a farewell. There’s no real closure there, especially since she has bonds with the remainder of the TAC. Maybe she can use them to fight to get her job back. More than anything, this is about trust — and that’s something that may need to be built over time.
