The Fosters season 5 episode 15 preview: The story of ‘Mother’s Day’

The Fosters season 5 episode 15 carries with it the title of “Mother’s Day,” and with that you are going to have opportunities to look back. One of the important things that the Freeform drama really does need to do before the end of the series is figure out  how to tie together some major loose ends, and also how to establish what the future for some characters could hold.

As you would assume here based on the title alone, “Mother’s Day” is a story of (you guessed it) mothers. The Fosters season 5 episode 15 synopsis gives you a little bit more insight as to what lies ahead:

Stef’s mom comes to visit and helps Stef cope with a tough time. Meanwhile, Callie and Jude grapple with the memory of their biological mother.

Stef is in the midst of one of the biggest ordeals of her entire life. She has struggled with her mental health in the past, and in the aftermath of that she has not been altogether upfront about everything that she is going through. It will still be the most helpful for her if she can figure out a way to be open and honest about her struggles, but we do recognize that this is so much easier said than done. How can you handle such an emotional situation if you don’t quite know when and where to open up?

As for Callie and Jude thinking back to their own biological mother, it makes sense that they would. This doesn’t take anything away from Stef or Lena; it’s just a valuable chapter of their lives and she informs their entire story. They may not realize it fully yet (they are still very young), but they may more at some point in the future.

What’s going on with Mariana and Jesus?

That’s a good question to wonder here given the fact that there wasn’t much of either one of them in the episode tonight. Beyond that, we also know that there isn’t exactly much of them mentioned here, either. Don’t take that as some hard-and-fast sign, though, that they will not be a part of the story.
