The 100 season 5 finale: The meaning of title ‘Damocles’
So why opt to name the finale “Damocles” (per SpoilerTV) in the first place? Well, a big part of the reasoning there has to do with a story in mythology, one that does tend to carry with a message of power and what happens to those who are in it. This is a story that is all about the threat that is present for those who rule; it is very well possible that there could be chaos coming your way.
How does this apply to the show? Well, there are a few different ways in which it could, but it’s rather hard to solidify some of these without actually seeing the season play out. For the time being, we would say that this is some sort of reference to some ruling party being challenged at the end of the season and there being a massive change coming at the top of the food chain. Isn’t that exciting? It could mean that there will be a major changing of the guard once more with the show. That’s something that they like to do almost every season to give each batch of episodes its own unique flavor and flair.
