The 100 season 5 spoilers: Is a new love interest on the way?

When The 100 season 5 comes on the air this spring, will there be a new love interest coming on board as well? We know that there are many viewers out there who watch this show in part for the romance, and as a result of that the producers seem keen to include it wherever they can. This is what brings us to where we are right now, reporting what could be another story with varying degrees of love thrown in there.

Unfortunately, trying to pin down too many more details about this character could be a challenge, largely because of the fact that A) the premiere of season 5 is still months away and B) this series is incredibly secretive in the first place. We imagine that it is imperative that things stay under wraps since we’re dealing with a narrative that is so serialized.

For the time being, here is what we know. According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, one of the parties involved in this relationship is going to be an established character. Meanwhile, the other party is going to be someone aboard the new prison ship.

Can you see where the complications could lie here? It feels almost like we could be broaching Romeo & Juliet territory with this story, mostly because we’ve got two characters who morally could be diametrically opposed to one another. Beyond that, we’ve also got a situation where they really should be focusing on something other than romance and this relationship could do one of two things:

1. It could motivate these two characters to keep living and fighting in a way that maybe they were not before.

2. It could cause them to become distracted, which in turn could doom them moving into the future.

There may be a third option, mostly because The 100 does like to have a mystery door #3 that you can’t at first see. That materializes over the course of the season.
