Super Bowl commercials 2018: Chris Pratt starts in Michelob ULTRA ad
This time around, we’re talking here about a certain beer company in Michelob that brought out former Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt for a reasonably good explanation on what the product is — and also the lifestyle that goes along with being … well, Chris Pratt.
The premise – This is basically almost a lifestyle commercial featuring Pratt in the role of himself, talking about how he lives and works. It’s almost a series of vignettes more so than it is anything more substantial. We cannot exactly say that this was super in-depth, but it was a reminder that Michelob ULTRA is apparently his drink of choice.
Brand recognition – We’d say that the beer was sprinkled in here and there through the spot, but we’re also not going to sit here and say that it was EXTREMELY prominent, either. Instead, it was just thrown in at some various points as a reminder that it was a part of the ad.

Creativity – Getting Pratt was a good get, but at the same time we’re not entirely sure just what the entire point of this ad really was. Is the point here “hey, be cool like Chris Pratt and drink Mechelob”? That’s a weird statement to make.
Our overall grade – D+. We live Chris Pratt, but this commercial really didn’t make a whole lot of sense. What it entertaining? Sure, but we’re not 100% sure what other sort of purpose it ended up serving and we’re going to forget about it in three minutes. We just don’t think anyone is going to purchase the beer after watching this.
