The Good Doctor episode 14: Shaun Murphy gets to know his new neighbor
What are we poised to learn about him? Well, for starters, he seems to be a guy who has some issues in regards to personal space. The new image below seems to give you a little bit of a sense of some of that, and this is a dynamic that may only continue from here.
What’s become rather interesting with Shaun is simply this: He seems to have two very distinct social spheres in his life. He’s got the hospital, where he can build relationships a little bit more on a professional level, and then he has some opportunities to build and cultivate some bonds at home on a personal level. The last person he had a chance to bond with was Lea, and we think that for the most part, there were positives that came from that. We didn’t like to see Shaun ditching the hospital, but she helped to teach him a thing or two more about self-care while also how to have feelings and express them for someone else. It makes sense why he thought about moving to Pennsylvania after she left, mostly because she meant a lot to him.

What can Shaun gain from this new neighbor, if anything? It’s still probably early to say, but maybe indirectly this causes Shaun to speak up a little bit more for himself. Take, for example, if that guy doesn’t leave him alone and he needs to be able to tell him to leave. Or, maybe they form a friendlier bond and this instills him with more confidence as a person to go out and be more social. We are down for any scene on The Good Doctor that makes Shaun step out of his comfort zone a little bit more. If that happens here, we figure that it’s very much a good thing.
We already know that we love Chris D’Elia, who is playing the part of the neighbor. Hopefully, Monday’s episode is a good precursor for more great stuff coming up.
