Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 11 video: Bailey’s (possible) heart-attack reveal

Of course, Miranda Bailey would find a way to come across as calm, cool, and collective, even when she may be having a heart attach.

In the sneak peek below from Thursday night’s new Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 11 entitled “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper,” you can see Chandra Wilson’s character in a position that feels uncomfortably familiar — she’s at a hospital that is not the Grey Sloan Memorial; in addition to that, she’s in the midst of what could be a life-or-death situation.

Yep, this scene has echoes of Derek Shepherd all over it. He died in a hospital that was not the Grey Sloan Memorial surrounded by doctors he did not know. One of them in Penny ended up eventually being a larger part of the show, but wasn’t at that particular point.

Here Bailey calmly enters the hospital on her own (that’s clearly different from Derek) and makes it clear that she believes that she is having a heart attack. The nurse there doesn’t seem altogether interested in listening to her at first, but that certainly seems to change the moment she announces what seems to be going on with her. Throughout this episode, we anticipate that there’s going to be a panicked feel just because this story is setting up such enormously high stakes. Wilson is one of the few remaining original cast members who’s been there through it all. You don’t want to lose her at this point, especially during a midseason episode that seems to be coming out of nowhere. It is interesting looking back just how many of these longtime cast members have been in life-or-death situations. Remember what happened during “Flight,” or how Richard Webber nearly got electrocuted to death? There have clearly been some dangerous moments aplenty on the series.
