Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 13 preview: Jack McCoy returns

When Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 13 airs next week, there is going to be a pretty significant amount of drama — even more so than usual with this show. It’s not often that you get a returning Law & Order icon like Sam Waterston in an episode, just like it’s also not altogether typical for us to get a story that puts Barba in the amount of jeopardy he’s going to be in here.

For a little more news surrounding what is coming, be sure to check out the SVU season 19 episode 13 synopsis below:

02/07/2018 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Wednesday) : SAM WATERSTON GUEST STARS AS JACK McCOY – When an infant goes missing, the SVU finds themselves taking sides in a family’s right-to-die court case. Meanwhile, Barba’s (Raul Esparza) interference in the case puts the entire DA’s office in jeopardy. Also starring Mariska Hargitay (Lt. Olivia Benson), Ice T (Det. Odafin Tutuola), Kelli Giddish (Det. Amanda Rollins), Peter Scanavino (Det. Sonny Carisi) and Philip Winchester (Peter Stone). Also guest starring Abigail Hawk (Maggie Householder), Joe Tapper (Aaron Householder), Peter Jacobson (Randy Dworkin) and Ami Brabson (Judge Blake).

If you read that carefully, you’ll know that getting Waterston isn’t the only great thing about this episode: It’s also the arrival of Winchester in the role of his old Chicago Justice character. We saw him earlier this season on Chicago Med and it will be fascinating seeing exactly what brings him over to this series, as well.

We almost want to pretend that there is low-key a Blue Bloods crossover in here, given that Abigail Hawk is known for playing Baker on the CBS drama. It’s obviously a different character here, but still. (Like many other performers over the years, this is the second time in which Hawk has appeared on the show — she played a different, less-prominent role more than a decade ago.)

This episode is the final one for SVU before we embark on that lengthy hiatus that will take the series through until the Winter Olympics are over in late February. With that in mind, be prepared to see an hour of television that packs a pretty-serious punch.

What do you want to see on SVU season 19 episode 13? Do you think that some of these guest stars will make this a worthy send-off for a few weeks? Be sure to share in the comments!
