Hawaii Five-0 season 8: MMA fighter BJ Penn set to appear
In a post on Twitter earlier this week, Penn (who originally hails from Hawaii) confirmed with a series of photos that he will be appearing for an upcoming season 8 episode. No details have been firmly announced from the role just yet, but it feels fair to say based on the images alone that he’s a fairly dangerous character. We’re fine with that — the more challenges that you give McGarrett and company, the better off Hawaii Five-0 is going to be.
This episode is likely to air in either late March or early judging from the timing in which it is filming. Remember that the CBS series is airing its last new episode prior to the start of the Olympics on Friday, and will be going off the air for a pretty extended hiatus following that. We’ll do our best to share some more updates along the way, given that the network should be kind enough to hand out some details here or there.

A big part of what makes Hawaii Five-0 the show we enjoy so much is that, no matter the story, there are always opportunities to expand out the world. Sometimes this happens in the form of new heroes, other times, it is new adversaries that push the team to the brink. Either way, the writers have done a great job in season 8 especially finding a way to keep the world fascinating and bouncing back from some notable departures over the summer.
Hopefully, BJ Penn will add to that, and depending on what happens over the episode there is always a chance that we will get more than one chance to see him down the line.
