Lucifer season 3 photos: Be prepared for some Lucifer – Cain fun
Let’s be honest: How many opportunities do you really have with this show to see Lucifer and Cain of all people pretend to be a couple? If Monday night’s new episode featured Lucifer going undercover with Chloe that’d be one thing; yet, this is something totally different altogether. This is a chance to see Tom Ellis and Tom Welling’s characters pose as a suburban gay couple for the sake of trying to solve a crime. You can see a couple of the photos for this episode below; judging from these alone we imagine that many a fanfiction is going to be posted online in the weeks to come.
We’ve stated this before, but one of the real interesting appeals of this episode is the flip on a classic crime TV trope. We’ve seen on several occasions with several shows over the years characters who are stuck firmly in the space of will-they-or-won’t-they. We’re speaking here about TV couples people want to see together, but also couples who have not made it to that place just yet. For one reason or another, they have not been able to make it all the way to the finish line and these episodes are meant to help tide people over.
In this case, we just think of this episode as a way to show that Lucifer and Cain can get along and share some common ground for the sake of getting the job done. It’s a way to make their conflict and struggle all the more interesting. Remember that at the heart of this season is Cain’s desire to die, coupled with his belief that Lucifer may be the only person he believes may be able to kill him. That creates an interesting struggle that could be a huge component to the show for the rest of the season.
