Hawaii Five-0 season 8: What should happen with McGarrett by season’s end?
Below, take a look at some of our hopes for the character — not that you may get a chance to see some answers next week, though beyond that Hawaii Five-0 is going to be on a bit of an extended hiatus until after the Olympics.
1. Have some sort of answer on his future – We do think that, for the sake of fan anxiety everywhere, this is essential. We know there was a lot of panic last year over the idea of Alex O’Loughlin leaving at the end of the season. We don’t think that this is a sure thing and it’s come to be a little more likely that he’ll stick around. We just don’t want some sort of cliffhanger where his future remains in question forever.
2. Some sort of romantic stability – Is it with Lynn? Is it with Alicia Brown? Is the guy just single? We’d love to find out. We understand why we don’t see a lot of his romantic life but there are certainly times where we’ve visited the McGarrett home and wondered why there was no significant other there.
3. Signs of hope in stopping the gang violence – Given that Ian Anthony Dale is not around for the entirety of this season this is something that we imagine will be resolved at some point sooner rather than later. There’s no show without crime in Hawaii, but hopefully there’s some resolution here so that Steve can move on to other things.

4. The restaurant opening – Or, at least some sort of tasting for a small group of friends and family. After all of the stress Steve and Danny have gone through (and all of the fighting), it seems like we should be able to see some sort of culmination to this story.
