Outlander season 4: New behind-the-scenes Sam Heughan snap
The latest Twitter image via series star Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser) gives you a pretty good sense of what production is like, for better or worse. Sam Heughan is all bundled up, likely for two different reasons: 1) comedy and 2) trying to handle some of the conditions that are out there in Scotland at the moment. Scotland has had some below-freezing temperatures as of late, and that is without even mentioning some of the rain and snow that is happening there this month. Add to this the wind and you have a new-found respect for some of the work that these people are doing, whether it be the cast or the crew. Sure, we figure that the cast and crew could go off and just film most of these scenes in a studio replicating some of the conditions, but it wouldn’t be the same.
While Sam and Caitriona play around a little bit, we actually do know that this is a pretty busy week for the series. As previously reported production has shifted over to a village that they have utilized in the past for some very significant scenes — we don’t want to spoil what they could be about, but we figure that many diehard book readers have a pretty good idea since Jamie and Claire wouldn’t exactly be in an old location from the first couple of seasons at this point. They’re off in North Carolina! (It’s also certainly possible that Outlander has a couple of filming crews running at the same time).
Production on Outlander season 4 is going to continue to go strong over the next several weeks and months — it should wrap up a little bit later this spring, and premiere on Starz later this year. We know that September 9 is a date we’re eyeing on our calendar since it’s roughly the same of year as the season 3 premiere date; however, note that this is just a projection as opposed to something that is happening for real.
