Supergirl season 3 episode 11 review: A visit to Fort Rozz

Supergirl season 3 episode 11

Supergirl season 3 episode 11 was entitled “Fort Rozz,” and we’d say that it has to be one of the best female-focused episodes of the CW series in some time. You had the series’ version of the Suicide Squad while at the same time Alex learned a thing or two about how she could be a great mother to Ruby — not that she realizes that this may be a permanent role that she takes on in the event that something happens to Samantha Arias down the line.

Let’s start here with the main mission at the heart of the hour: Seeing Supergirl bring in Livewire and Psi to help her and Saturn Girl make a trip out to Fort Rozz. The fort contained one of the only people who could feasibly help her to determine how to stop Reign; yet, at the same time there were complications — many complications. For starters, the misfit team had a hard time of finding their target; beyond that, though, Reign also was charting her own journey towards Fort Rozz in order to the stop them.

Reign didn’t get there early enough to keep a conversation from happening between Supergirl and her target; we don’t exactly think that she got all that much in the wake of good news tonight, though, other than her learning something we already figured out in that there are some other Worldkillers who are out there.

Then, of course Reign showed up and things started to get crazy as Fort Rozz started to careen closer and closer to a blue star. At this point, the DEO started to come into action. Brainiac-5, in between trolling the DEO for their lack of solid equipment, did their part to help back at home. They were useful, as was Saturn Girl, who made the risky decision to take off Psi’s protective equipment so that she could temporarily stop Reign. We almost thought tonight that Supergirl was going to learn her alter ego! It almost happened, but instead the big revelation was seeing Livewire die in the midst of a showdown with Reign. This was a bummer, given that Leslie was one of the show’s better villains and Brit Morgan really embraced the role. Alas, we figure that the show needs to kill people off for the story to matter.

The aftermath of Alex and Ruby’s time together

They had some fun moments as Alex stood up for her; also, she helped Alex cope with a text message that she got from Maggie. (Check out more of our thoughts on a possible Maggie return.) At the end of the episode, what we ended up seeing was Samantha return to Alex, suddenly confused over all of the time that she’s missing. She couldn’t quite figure out why.

In the aftermath of Supergirl’s trip, as well, we had a conversation between Kara and Mon-El where she vented about her struggles not getting through to Reign. Beyond that, the closing seconds also revealed for the first time Julia, a character who we certainly think is about to become a Worldkiller herself…

Final Verdict

“Fort Rozz” was a fun episode, but also a surprisingly powerful one given that the show found a way to make the death of a villain mean something when she had only appeared in a handful of episodes. Not only that, but Kara’s influence found a way to have her die a hero. It’s another reminder that Kara’s abilities don’t just stop with her powers.
