Call the Midwife season 7 episode 2 spoilers: Trixie and Christopher’s next move

Call the Midwife season 7 episode 2

What’s coming up on Call the Midwife season 7 episode 2? Following tonight’s premiere on BBC One, next week will feature the women of Nonnatus House trying to get a little more accustomed to their new circumstances. Lucille Anderson is now a part of Nonnatus. Meanwhile, Valerie Dyer has officially settled in, and Trixie is in some ways a mentor as one of the longest-tenured midwives. Nonetheless, there are many different things that she as a character needs to figure out.

Below, the Call the Midwife season 7 episode 2 synopsis offers up a wide array of details about some of the stories that are coming up, including an opportunity to see more of Trixie and Christopher’s relationship alongside learning more of what’s going to happen with Lucille still getting accustomed to her new job:

Lucille is on duty when Valerie’s family friend Marjory goes into labour.

Marjory’s mother Mae (Maggie O’ Neill) is sceptical about Lucille’s ability, but is proved wrong when she competently delivers the baby. However, when Marjory’s health takes an unexpected turn for the worse, Mae’s prejudice and racism causes her to blame Lucille. The team must rally to protect their newest recruit and restore Lucille’s confidence in their community.

Sister Winifred (Victoria Yeates) makes a case for fathers to be more involved in their wives’ pregnancies but finds the men of Poplar may need more persuading. Trixie (Helen George) invites Christopher (Jack Hawkins) to eat a home-cooked dinner, but the meal doesn’t quite go as planned. And Shelagh (Laura Main) gets a little more than she bargained for when their glamorous Hungarian Au Pair arrives.

If you are thinking just in terms of personal stories, there are few that are going to have the same sort of impact as what we’re going to see with Lucille and Marjory. Valerie is going to be invested in her as a patient, and as a result of that there are certainly questions regarding whether or not you are going to see any potential tension unfold between the midwives. Meanwhile, for Trixie and Christopher it always seems to be one step forward and another step back. Are they going to find a way to get out of their rut?
