Grey’s Anatomy season 14: Camilla Luddington on hit-and-run mystery

Grey's Anatomy season 14

Moving into Thursday night’s new episode of Grey’s Anatony entitled “Personal Jesus,” it’s pretty darn clear that the hit-and-run mystery is at the heart of the story. Did Jo run over Dr. Paul Stadler? The ending of the winter premiere suggested as much, but we’ve come to learn very much over time with this show that not all is as stable as you would think. There are twists and turns that can come out of nowhere; when it comes to Jo and Paul in particular, we know that she has the motive that to do something like this, and in a moment of duress we know that almost anything is possible.

Of course, you’re going to have a hard time knowing one way or another what happens on the other side of this cliffhanger until Thursday night. Yet, Camilla Luddington did her best to set things up by saying the following recently to TVLine:

“After reading the script and seeing how much Paul gaslights her through the whole episode, I did wonder whether she felt so desperate in that moment that she thought this was the only way she could protect herself. I know that that’s not what Jo would ever intend to do, but this is Grey’s Anatomy — anything can happen! Characters can do things that, even as the actor playing them, you find completely surprising.”

If we had to guess, it would be that Paul’s fiancee Jenny (Bethany Jo Lenz) is the person responsible for the hit-and-run and that she made this spur-of-the-moment decision after going home and having to deal with the aftermath of the day. We never actually saw her hand over the information Jo gave her to Paul so it’s possibly it may have been forcibly extracted from her and there was a violent incident about it later.

At present, though, it feels like there are only three candidates for the hit-and-run — Jo, Alex, and Jenny. With Alex, it feels like this would be a major step backwards for a guy who was trying to slow down his temper problems after what happened with DeLuca.
