NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 spoilers: Who is Cassie? Meet new character
For now, what we know about her is this. According to TVLine, the character is among the first women to become a Green Beret, and based on the sort of work that goes into that you have to know that she means business. She’s described as being “maybe too smart for her own good,” coupled with someone who “bristles at [the] chain of command.” With that, she clearly has a few things in common with Sam, Callen, and some other people on the team already.
As for how Cassie fits in with the remainder of the team, that is absolutely a good question right now. We’ve got a pretty full cast as it is, and that’s without Hetty even being back in Los Angeles. While we did sadly lose Miguel Ferrer last year, the series added both the Shay Mosley and Hidoko characters. It’s possible that Cassie could step into a role left by one of them if these characters don’t stick around after Hetty’s return; or, she could be a recurring character similar to Anna who just shows up a few times over the second half of the season. We haven’t seen too much of Anna through season 9 so she could just be occupying that sort of space.
Ultimately, we’ve learned over time that it’s better to not judge a role before you actually end up seeing it on TV. We’ve seen with Hawaii Five-0 that there is a way to introduce new, likable characters many years into a show’s run. We think the biggest struggle with Mosley in particular was that she wasn’t introduced as a character viewers were meant to like. After all, she was presented from the get-go as opposition to the team and that is not the easiest thing for a character to bounce back from.
