NCIS season 15 episode 13 promises powerful Rocky Carroll story (video)

If you’ve been waiting for a fantastic Rocky Carroll episode of NCIS, Tuesday night’s season 15 episode 13 (entitled “Family Ties”) appears to be the one. Judging from the latest information available, including the new CBS promo, this is going to be one of the strongest installments of the entire season and maybe one of the best for Carroll as Leon Vance in a rather long time.

Here is a little bit of what we know about “Family Ties” and the story that is coming up over the course of it. At the start of the episode, Vance is going to receive some tough news: His daughter was arrested for shoplifting. Vance realizes right away the trouble that goes along with that: He is the powerful head of a crime-fighting organization, and the optics of him raising a potential thief are dangerous to him.

Yet, something must have happened to get his daughter into such a place. There could be more to the story, something that he is missing, or something that he failed at before that moment happened. Leon Vance may be a smart, powerful man, but he’s also capable of mistakes. He makes errors just like anyone else and has to learn from them.

One of the errors this time around could just be not listening. He is going to spend so much time spiraling mentally over the arrest that we have to wonder one thing: Will he take the time to listen? It’s one thing to punish his daughter or to lash out at her over the decision, but he needs to also understand. It looks as though Carroll and Maria Bello will be working together a good bit in this episode, and that’s important since Jack Sloane could help him to understand how to handle this situation, how he shouldn’t judge his daughter, and how the two of them could move forward.

While there is another story at the heart of this episode — one where McGee and Torres are going to be tasked with trying to take down a family who goes on the run — we have a feeling that the Vance story will be what is the most memorable about this episode in the end. Be sure to have some tissues nearby. We’re absolutely interested to learn how a guy like him somehow manages to handle this situation and prioritize what matters the most. We understand as to why it may be difficult for him manage his emotions in the midst of what he’s going through.
