Blue Bloods season 8 episode 13 promo: Tom Selleck becomes Yoda
“There is no try on this one.” If there was ever a quote that made Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan start to sound like Yoda, it is this one from Friday night’s Blue Bloods season 8 episode 13. This is an episode that will start off with a pretty shocking crime, and also one that has to be one of the more expensive ones staged for the show.
After all, it’s really not that often you have a chance to see a local grocer finding themselves crashed into by a car. Also, it’s rather uncommon for Henry Reagan to be a witness to what happened. Consider this one of the few times a season in which Henry steps out from the family dinner table and becomes a larger part in the case. He’s got a lot of knowledge that stems from his time in the force, but with this knowledge also comes a stubbornness, a belief that he is right even if he’s not. That’s something that we’re going to see Danny have to contend with and that may not always be easy. These are two strong-willed cops who like to do things their own way. Even though Henry may be older, we don’t necessarily think that many of these impulses have changed all that much.
This episode is mostly interesting just for a difference of opinion, and also because of the title — what does “Erasing History” really mean? Is there a larger meaning here that we’re missing out on? Typically, there is a specific focus with Blue Bloods episodes, and we imagine that in this case, one will also become clear after the episode airs.
Unfortunately, the one thing we are still left to wonder outside the Henry / Danny story is this — who decided that ten-second promos are enough to satisfy anyone? Maybe they’re shorter so that the episodes themselves can be 10-15 seconds longer; otherwise, there is no real reason for this.
