This Is Us season 2 episode 12 preview: Kate’s wedding plans; Randall’s past

This Is Us season 2 episode 12 carries with it the title of “Clooney,” and to go along with that there are plenty of questions. For one, what exactly is this a reference to? Is this meant to instill some sort of sense of false confidence?

Regardless of what is at the heart of this episode, “Clooney” is going to deliver given that there are so many interesting twists and turns at the center of the hour. Kate’s going to try to move forward by planning her wedding, whereas Kevin is going to try to find some other way in which to battle some of his demons.

Kate goes wedding dress shopping. Kevin embraces a new lifestyle while Randall explores William’s past. Jack and Rebecca take the kids to the mall.

Obviously, this isn’t the most spoiler-filled synopsis in the known world. At the moment, Kevin clearly has the biggest struggle out of anyone, mostly because of the fact that he is recovering from a serious, life-threatening addiction. Yet, at the same time you do also have to remember here that Kevin is far from the only addict. You also have Kate to think about here, since she just admitted to Toby that she’s been stealing food in order to cope with losing her unborn child.

While there were some nice moments of reconciliation while at rehab, you do have to remember the following: They are just moments. Those, in turn, are not signals that anything is better in the long-term. That’s a short-term benefit for the family but it may not have long-term benefits.

As for Randall exploring his biological father’s past, that’s just wonderful for the sake of answers and information. Also, we hope that in some way it means an opportunity to get more of Ron Cephas Jones on the series.
