Chicago Fire season 6: Gary Cole of Veep set to guest star

Chicago Fire season 6 episode 10 is going to air on NBC come Thursday, January 25, and it carries with it the title of “Slamigan.” To make matters all the more exciting, Veep actor Gary Cole will serve as a guest star!

Who is Gary Cole playing on this Chicago Fire episode? Think in terms of Chief Grissom, someone with ties to Matthew Casey. The official “Slamigan” synopsis reveals more:

DAWSON IS ON A MISSION – GARY COLE GUEST STARS – Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) do everything they can to locate Bria’s (guest star Quinn Cooke) whereabouts after discovering important new information. Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) reunites with Chief Grissom (guest star Gary Cole), and old family friend. Meanwhile, Cruz (Joe Minoso) enlists the help of Brett (Kara Killmer) and Mouch (Christian Stolte) to create a new tool and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Zach (guest star Daniel Di Tomasso) go on a date.

For those wondering the meaning of “Slamigan,” it is more than likely a name or reference thrown into the episode itself. There are not too many other references to the term out there within the One Chicago universe; anyone out there trying to figure out anything about this one in advance will probably lose their mind.

Beyond just the title, Chicago Fire season 6 clearly is going to be bringing you a lot of interesting story as the weeks go on. The arc of Bria first originated in the recent midseason premiere, and it’s going to continue for a while as Dawson continues to be involved in her life in some capacity.

As for the idea of Stella with Zach, it’s hard to gauge too much of an opinion without actually seeing this character in action. We know that, on paper, we like the idea of someone like Zach coming in and making Severide question some of his feelings. While she may have been drunk when she kissed him in the fall finale, that was still an expression of her feelings and with that, it’s something to keep your eyes peeled on as season 6 progresses.
