Outlander Weekly Roundup: Honors and looking ahead

Outlander season 3 finale photos

Welcome to the final 2017 edition of our Outlander Weekly Roundup! All things considered this is one of the quietest weeks of the year for the Starz drama, but as we start to see the clock strike midnight, what better time is there to look back on some of what we’ve written about?

Before we get into all of that, let’s start things off by wishing everyone out there a safe and happy New Year — whether you are a cast member, a crew member, or a fan of Outlander, here’s to a wonderful 2018 that is full of opportunity and excitement. Obviously, there is a lot to be excited about when it comes to Outlander in 2018, with the fourth season coming at the end of the year.

A good jumping-off point with some of our coverage this week is our piece discussing some of what we’d like to see happen with Outlander in the new year. It’s a list of hopefully-fun suggestions, plus also a few things that we realistically want to happen. Some more official news could come fairly early on in 2018, given that the series will resume production again before too long in Scotland.

As for some other stories…

CarterMatt Awards victories – If you missed it, Outlander was voted on by our readers as Show of the Year! The show overall did receive a number of honors from our readers, including the likes of Top Actor (Sam Heughan), Top Actress (Caitriona Balfe), Breakout Star (Sophie Skelton), Best Villain (Black Jack Randall, as played by Tobias Menzies), Favorite Showrunner (Ronald D. Moore), and Best Fanbase. Cheers to everyone who voted!

Building a Proper Fandom We’re proud of this piece, which we think does a good job exploring how Outlander is able to use social media in order to build a wonderful following of supportive fans. It’s one of the best overall fandoms on Twitter, and they’ve been more than welcoming of new viewers who have turned up along the way.

Why Outlander had one of the most surprising moments of the year – It’s hard for an adaptation to really pull a shocker off, but at the start of the third season Outlander did.

Our latest Character Questions piece This week, we calculate the future of Caitriona Balfe’s Claire Fraser — what should happen to her moving forward?

As always, we welcome some of your thoughts on this story right now in the comments!
