There is a reasonably good chance that you have heard about Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 11 in some shape or form already. After all, this episode entitled “Flight Risk” is a takedown of sexual assault within the airline industry, and it also will contain thematic parallels to the shocking Harvey Weinstein episodes. While the story was planned even before some of the news about the studio mogul came out, the similarities between the two situations will nonetheless be clear.

CarterMatt has more via the just-released SVU season 19 episode 11 synopsis below:

01/17/2018 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Wednesday) : When an airline pilot (guest star Yasmine Al Massri) accuses her captain (guest star Martin Donovan) of sexual assault, Barba (Raúl Esparza) convenes a Grand Jury to determine their employer’s complicity in the crime. Meanwhile, Fin (Ice T) takes steps to ensure Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is protected at work. Also starring Kelli Giddish (Det. Amanda Rollins) and Peter Scanavino (Det. Sonny Carisi). Also guest starring Peter Gallagher (Chief Dodds), Ned Eisenberg (Roger Kressler), Reg Rogers (Carl Fleming), Roxanna Hope Radja (Alexis Sidnana), Anastasia Barzee (Jeanne Howell) and Ana Maria Jomolca (Ellen).

The Grand Jury angle is in part what is going to make this story so interesting — it’s arguably a very different sort of case than the one that the Special Victims Unit routinely deals with since you are talking about people who fly all over the country and, in some cases, the world. There is probably also such a fraternity of pilots in some ways that those who abuse power feel as though they can get away with it and nothing will ever happen to them. It’s a disgusting thought, and we certainly don’t think that every airline or pilot is like this. Unfortunately, some of them probably are since you are talking about an industry that is so mired in power and control.

Beyond just the case of the week, we do think that the story with Fin and Benson will be interesting given it coming in the aftermath of Noah being taken in the winter premiere. If someone is targeting Benson in some way, that makes things a little bit more essential in order to protect her out in the field.
